Invocator / Joke Master Role

Near the end of our meetings, we have a short time slot for either an Invocator or a Joke Master, to provide us with some food for thought, or a laugh, respectively.

Invocator Role

The role of the invocator is to provide some inspiring words in order to evoke thought.  This can be serious or light hearted but never controversial.  It could include a reading, a quotation or a story with a message.

Before the Meeting

  • Prepares a brief explanation of the role for the benefit of new members and guests.
  • Selects suitable material for the invocation and prepares a short speech.  (Time slot: 3 minutes).
  • Ensures that any resources required will be available (eg a flip chart).

During the Meeting

  • Explains the role of the invocator when called upon.
  • Delivers the prepared material in a thought provoking way.
